“Who will say to Him, ‘What are You doing?’”
~~Job 9:12~~
“What are You doing?!” Being perfectly honest, there have been times this question has echoed through my heart as I couldn’t understand a purpose in what I was enduring.
As I sat in this verse this morning, my first and prevailing thought was GOD IS GOD AND I AM NOT. How audacious of me to question the Maker and Ruler of all things?! It never quite hit me like it did this morning, seeing that in print.
My second thought was how God knew that we would have questions like that, so He put the answer to that question in the Scriptures. Isaiah 55:8-9, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” God has a plan that is bigger than “me”, and He sees the big picture, not just the small frame of my life, which segues me into the third thought.
Thirdly — Isaiah 55:11, “So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; it will not return to Me empty, without accomplishing what I desire, and without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it.” God has a plan and it will be accomplished. There is great comfort knowing that nothing that enters my life is a random coincidence. God has a plan and that plan will be accomplished. “I” am not the “star of the show” called my life. GOD IS!!
That is certainly a lot to grasp, isn’t it? Or should I say that it is hard to embrace. We all filter our circumstances through how they make us “feel”, when we should filter it through what God is working to accomplish, both in and through our circumstances, AND in and through us as individuals.
Thank you Spirit of God for loving me enough to use one small question to teach me that I am not the star of my own show, YOU ARE.
