Do You See Him?

“From the God of your father who helps you,
And by the Almighty who blesses you
[with] blessings of heaven above,
Blessings of the deep that lies beneath,
Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.”
~~Genesis 49:25~~

“Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing
in the heavenly [places] in Christ,”
~~Ephesians 1:3~~

“As for the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me,
practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.”
~~Philippians 4:9~~

“John replied, ‘A person can receive not even one thing
unless it has been given to him from heaven’.”
~~John 3:27~~

In reading these passages today, I am convicted by the many, many things that God blesses me with that I take for granted. He is the Giver of all things. This really impacted me from the devotional I read this morning (Confessing the Hebrew Scriptures – El Shaddai),

“Blessings come in many varieties. Some are large, and some are small. Some are tangible and others abstract. Some are dramatic solutions to urgent needs while others are so quietly constant they may be overlooked.”

PAUSE TO PONDER the blessings you may be missing because you take them for granted. You breathed throughout the night without thinking about it. You were able to awaken this morning through no effort of your own. (You may be thinking, nuh-uh, my alarm woke me up and “I” am the one who set it.  Well, who gave you the ears to hear that alarm?  Now put that “nuh-uh” away and keep reading.)  You blink to keep your eyeballs moist.  The sun rose to mark a new day full of new mercies. These are just a few of the blessings that came to mind.

But you know, His blessings are not just temporal.  He has blessed you with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.  He chose you to be His.  He has given you spiritual eyes so you can see the many wonderful things in His Word.  He has given you His armor to be able to combat the schemes of the enemy of your soul.  He is Your maker.  He is your physical and spiritual life Sustainer.  There’s nothing, either spiritual or physical,  you have that He didn’t give you.

I thank You, Father,  that you are El Shaddai — the Almighty God.  You are the One who helps me and blesses me with all that I could ever need.  I love you so much and I desire to see Your fingerprints throughout my day.  I want to praise You for who You are – El Shaddai.

Take a moment and listen to this song with me.  Let’s praise God for all the many blessing He bestows on us every moment of every day.
