NOTHING comforts me like a Word from my Abba. 

“I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;
My heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
I have set the Lord always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will rest in hope.
For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy; 
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

I’ve been going through a particularly hard time lately.  When I read this psalm this morning it was like…”POW!” Check this out.  

It’s one thing when you have “a bad day”, but it has seemed I have been having a mighty long string of them.  Well, I love how this passage addresses my “string” (in the night “SEASONS“).  

The very next verse speaks volumes to me.  “I have set the Lord ALWAYS BEFORE ME”.  That’s an “on purpose” CHOICE.  Because He’s who I turn to during those hard “seasons”…I SHALL NOT be moved!!  (you hear that you snake!!??!  I shall not be moved!!) 

But here’s some truth.  The enemy of our souls (the “snake”) knows that if he can get my mind focused on my feelings during a “night season”, then he’s got me in a weakened condition.  It’s ONLY when my mind is stayed on the Lord that I shall not be moved.  

I CHOOSE to focus on my Savior, not on my circumstances!!! 

Another thing that ministered to my heart was the phrase “in Your presence is fullness of joy”.  It’s not in my circumstances (even the good ones) that I find fullness of joy.  It is in the PRESENCE OF MY ABBA where my fullness of joy is found. 

Oh how I love Your Word Lord!  I am amazed and humbled at how, with Your word, You meet me right where I am, and You comfort me and redirect me.  I love You so much.
