So I have to say I really enjoy when memories pop up on Facebook. Check this one out from 2014. It still is relevant.

So, today Cayd and I were sitting at the piano singing and playing duets. It’s something we do almost every time we are together. The kid loves music just like his Baba (smile).
Well we were having a grand ole time when a song popped into my head that I hadn’t yet introduced to Cayd. Actually, I hadn’t thought of this song in many years.
Hallelu, hallelu, hallelu, hallelujah!
Praise ye the Lord!
Hallelu, hallelu, hallelu, hallelujah!
Praise ye the Lord!
Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah.
Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah.
Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah.
Praise ye the Lord!
I remember singing this song in vacation Bible school when I was a child. Mr. and Mrs. Hardy (dear friends and servants of God) taught it to us kiddos. One side of the sanctuary was responsible for popping up from our seats singing the “Hallelu” part, while the opposite side would pop up and answer with a hearty “Praise ye the Lord!”. Bring back memories? Yeah, I thought it might (smile).
Well, after Cayd and I had sung that song a few times, we finished up our time at the piano, and I decided to take Cayd to Sorgels, feed some animals, and play. As we were in the car on our way, from the back seat I heard a different version of the Praise Ye The Lord song. It went something like this…
How are you, how are you, how are you, Hallelujah
Praise ye The Lord
How are you, how are you, how are you, Hallelujah
Praise ye The Lord
Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah.
Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah.
Praise ye the Lord, Hallelujah.
Praise ye the Lord!
My first instinct was to correct the erroneous lyrics, until the Spirit began to whisper to me that Cayden had it right. You see, regardless of the answer of “How are you, how are you, how are you”, the response should be the same — Hallelujah, Praise ye The Lord!
“I will bless the Lord at all times:
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make her boast in the Lord:
the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
O magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together.
I sought the Lord, and he heard me,
and delivered me from all my fears.”
~~Psalm 34:1-4~~
We are to bless God at all times, not just when things go smoothly. We are to bless Him when things go wrong, too. We are to boast in the Lord even when all looks bleak. Our prayer should be similar to David’s or one like this, “Father, I love and appreciate You. I know You are going to bring the answer I need because You are a good God, and You care for me. I trust You, Lord, no matter what I see with my human eyes. I choose to look through the eyes of faith, and I believe You are sending my answer. I love You, Lord, no matter what happens.” When we keep this attitude of praise in the midst of our trials, we come through victoriously.
Yup, God often teaches me much from my time with my little man. Love that kid more than words can convey.
