So this morning I read a devotion from a book my sweet friend, Michelle gave me for Christmas. The key verse was Revelation 22:17.
“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’
And let him who hears say, ‘Come!’
Whoever is thirsty, let him come;
and whoever wishes, let him take
the free gift of the water of life.”
~~Revelation 22:17~~
As I read that verse, a phrase just POPPED off the page to me (I love when that happens!!).
THE SPIRIT AND THE BRIDE SAY, “COME!”
The SPIRIT and the bride say, “COME!” — The Holy Spirit is at work, wooing people to come to Jesus — The Spirit says, “Come!”.
The Spirit and the BRIDE say, “COME!”—The followers of Jesus—the church. We are the bride. Everything I say, everything I do, everything I am should be a huge billboard that says “COME!” I have to ask myself if I am living in such a way that my life is a bridge people can cross to find Jesus? This convicted me, yet excited me at the same time.
After I finished reading the devotional, I moved on to my daily study (I’m working my way, ever so slowly, through the book of John). I came across John 7:37. CHECK THIS OUT!! (I love when God connects the dots and reinforces what He just highlighted for me.)
In John 7:37 Jesus says—“If anyone is thirsty, let him COME to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him .”
Come and drink. If you are a follower of Jesus, you have come and you drank—and now, you have STREAMS OF LIVING WATER FLOWING FROM WITHIN YOU. You now have within you Someone – the Living Water – that you can offer to others. Someone who can satisfy their thirst just like He satisfied yours!
Think of it this way. If a person is thirsty, they generally look for a water fountain or spigot—they look for a source where they can get a drink to quench their thirst. Just looking at the society in which we live, it’s evident that there is a thirsty world out there.
The road the Spirit took me down this morning left me pausing to ponder this…Would anyone know by looking at me that I have streams of living water flowing from within me?
DOES MY LIFE SAY, “COME!”?
Maybe the road the Spirit is pointing you to is one where you need to meet the Source of this Living Water for yourself. If you aren’t completely certain that you have a relationship with the Living God, please reach out to me. I would love to introduce you to Him!!
“Whoever is thirsty, let him COME, and whoever wishes,
let him take the free gift of the water of life.”
